It’s Tough to be a Bug

In my opinion it’s tough to be a human at Disney’s 3D movie, It’s Tough to be a Bug. Ever wonder what’s inside that massive Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom? Wonder no longer! This show is actually located inside the Tree of Life! As you walk along the paths to get down to the tree, make sure to look for the carvings in the tree roots. See how many animals and bugs you can find!

Once you reach the inside of the tree, make sure to grab a pair of 3D bug glasses. The show is about to begin! This cute and informative show starts out fun and innocent enough, with our friend Flik (From the movie It’s a Bug’s Life) and his many bug friends showing off their skills. But about halfway through, the show takes a dark turn when Hopper appears, out to seek vengeance on humans for the horrible way we have treated our buggy friends.

Be aware, inside this show you might be sprayed with water, get to experience the noxious scent of stink bugs, and more. It certainly is tough to be a bug!

 Mom’s worry note: If you have a young child, chances are he or she will probably start screaming his/her head off about halfway through the show because of the dark flashing lights, the massive spiders that dangle from the ceiling, and huge mechanical Hopper. As this very well could traumatize your child, you might want to either skip the show, or have an adult family member stay outside with the young one. You have been warned! 

Tips:  

  • Don’t rush into the theater as you will be forced to move down to the end of the row, and seating in the middle is best. So let others go ahead. Also, once the show is wrapping up, make sure to stay firmly seated, with your back against the bench so you don’t miss out on any little surprises.
  • Make sure to visit the Discovery Island Trails around the Tree of Life to see a variety of birds, fish and mammals!
    •  Fun Fact: At one time Disney World was thinking about putting a restaurant inside the tree!

    This is our top pick for the 4D movies at Walt Disney World.   There is water, there is stink, and there is a good reason to stay in your seats until the show is over.
