This week’s theme: Love this…..

You had to know with this week’s theme, I would have to go to food. This is one treat that I love at the Magic Kingdom, the Citrus Swirl. As a young boy we would visit the Magic Kingdom and I loved to see the Orange Bird at the Sunshine Tree Terrace. Often times we would get the Orange Bird cup which would always find it’s way into my luggage for the return trip home. I’m sorry all you Dole Whip fans out there, today I express my love for the Citrus Swirl. If you have not tried it, and you enjoy anything orange flavored, be sure to give it a shot – you will not be disappointed. Are you a Dole Whip or Citrus Swirl fan, let us know in the comments below……

Our Favorite Food This Week: Holiday Sandwich
Location: Holiday Eats & Treats, Epcot – Holiday’s around the World
Price: $8.99
Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends. The Holiday’s are over and here in Florida we have had our 1 or 2 days of “winter” weather, but I just couldn’t let the holidays go by without sharing this. My favorite selection at this years Holiday’s around the World was the Holiday Sandwich at the Holiday Eats & Treats booth. At first sight I didn’t think having all of Thanksgiving wrapped up in one sandwich would taste good, but they pulled it off. Yes this was a messy meal, but oh so good. The sandwich has cranberry bread , a large portion of moist turkey, along with mashed potatoes and gravy. Yep it is all there and oh so good, my wife and I split it as we wanted to try other things, but this could have easily been a meal on it’s own.
Though the Holidays are over and this sandwich is no longer served, if you find yourself in Disney Springs, be sure to stop by Earl of Sandwich for their version called the Holiday Turkey. This sandwich is turkey, cornbread stuffing, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce & mayonnaise. mmmm mmmm
Epcot opens the first annual International Festival of the Arts today, this festival features many different arts including Broadway entertainment, and of course our favorite FOOD. This festival is short lived and will only be around till Feb 20, 2017 so hope you can make it to the parks to enjoy it.

Our Favorite Food This Week: Pizza
Location: PizzeRizzo, Hollywood Studios
Price: $9.45 (cheese) $9.99 (veggie, pepperoni) $10.69 (meat lovers)
Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends. Happy New Year, I know it’s been awhile since we posted last, but we are back to bring you some of our favorite
foods across the world for 2017. We open 2017 with a “newer” addition to Hollywood Studios, PizzeRizzo which has replaced one of our favorites, Pizza Planet. We were sad to see it go, but what good was it after they removed all the claw games.
PizzeRizzo opens in the same building as Pizza Planet but with many needed additions. The ordering and seating areas are now huge and are ready to help accommodate the overflow from the Star Wars areas of the park. The building is now set to to look closer to a New York style pizza place with an additional banquet hall on the second floor called, Rizzo’s Deluxe Supreme Banquet Hall, which appears to be hosting a wedding reception, with music provided by DJ Electric Mayhem. Be sure to head to the second floor to check it out.
As for the Pizza, this is the same pizza that was found at Pizza Planet. If you didn’t like the pizza then, you won’t like it now. Our family happens to enjoy this pizza over the flatbread style pizza that has been taking over many of the other counter service restaurants. No, it’s no Via Napoli, but if you are looking for a quick pizza fix in Hollywood Studios, PizzeRizzo fits the bill. And here is a tip if you don’t want the salad or are looking to save a few bucks, ask for just the pizza. The price on the menu includes a Cesar salad, but you can ask to just get the pizza and they shave a few bucks off the price. Also if you are in the parks at night check out the sign that says “The city‘s top rated pizza“. Some of the lights flicker and when they do it says “It’s Rat Pizza”.
What’s your favorite Pizza at the parks? Have a great 2017!!

Our Favorite Food This Week: Back to the Kitchen by Freddie Prinze Jr.
Location: Your local bookstore or online
Price: $16.56
Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends. Today we are stepping away from the restaurant. Yes, I know, I’m not a huge cook either. I love the ease of walking into a restaurant and enjoying an amazing meal. When I do cook at home I don’t like to hit the store for a bunch of spices that I will only use once for this recipe, yep our cabinet is filled with these already. So as I signed up for a recent conference, attending a cook book discussion was not high on my list, until I read who had written the cookbook, Freddie Prinze Jr. First off, he is not a chef and hasn’t appeared on the iron chef or anything of the like. Second, our family was also a fan of him and his wife. Third, the description of the session said there would be FREE food. After reading that I had to sign up 🙂
As I sat through the session and listened to Freddie Prinze Jr. tell his stories and talk about how his family comes together to cook these recipes I began to feel that this cookbook might be a bit different than the others. Freddie was very down to earth and relate-able during and even one on one after the session. His recipes are filled with flavor and not a ton of spices that you have to run out to the store to buy, he even includes substitute items and spices where he can. And most importantly the recipes are low on ingredients overall, which means someone like me can take them on.
During the session Freddie mentioned that one of his favorite recipes was the Holy $#!% Pulled Pork. I am a fan of pulled pork, so this was the first one that I tried. And, Holy $#!% was it good, this definitely stood up to its name. So if you are in the market for a simple, easy, low ingredient style cook book be sure to pick up Back to the Kitchen, by Freddie Prinze Jr. Why not pick up a few for Holiday Gifts!!
