Favorite Food Friday - Pot Roast Macaroni and Cheese - DisneyDayByDay

Our Favorite Food This Week:  Pot Roast Macaroni and Cheese
Location: Friar’s Nook, Magic Kingdom
Cost: $8.99

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.   This week we head over to the Magic Kingdom to try one of the items we have heard a lot about, the pot roast mac and cheese.   First off, we love the kid approved Disney Mac and Cheese.   Yes, I have been seen borrowing items from the kid’s selection at the buffets.    So adding a large helping of perfectly cooked juicy pot roast to this mac and cheese makes for a great combination.   At first is doesn’t look like a lot, but this is more than enough to share with a couple friends for an afternoon snack.   It is hot and rich though so it might not be something I go out of the way for on a hot summer day, but this fit the bill for our early spring trip.    There is also limited covered outdoor seating around the Friar’s Nook so be prepared to sit in the sun.

Buffalo Chicken Dog - Aulani - DisneyDayByDay

Our Favorite Food This Week:  Buffalo Chicken “Dog”
Location: Mama’s Snack Shop – Aulani
Cost: $7.00

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.   This week we head to one of our favorite places on Earth, Aulani.   I’m a big fan of buffalo chicken so I couldn’t pass up the chance to grab a Buffalo Chicken “Dog” while lounging at the pool.    This is the perfect mix of spice and ranch to keep the tongue from burning ever so much.    The portion size was perfect for a small meal or afternoon snack.

Pineapple Dog - Epcot Flower and Garden Festival - DisneyDayByDay

Our Favorite Food This Week:  Pineapple Dog
Location: Epcot Flower and Garden Festival, Pineapple Promenade
Cost: $4.00

Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends.   Well here we are at the end of this years Epcot Flower and Garden Festival.   We hope you had the chance to experience the beautiful flowers and more importantly try out the food.   Each year is filled with such an amazing array of new food items and the best part is they are sample size so you have an excuse to try as many as possible.    This year we tried the Pineapple Dog at the Pineapple Promenade, you will notice that the first word in the description is “Spicy” – holy moly Batman that is putting it mildly, our dog was on fire.   The addition of the Sriracha mayo added to the fire, so we smeared a bit of that off and were able to enjoy the dog and the sweetness of the Pineapple Chutney.   If you like some spice in your life, be sure to give this a try but keep water handy.

Dole Whip History

Dole Whip History

The Dole Whip - DisneyDayByDay

Ahhh that fresh feeling you get as you sit in Adventureland enjoying your favorite frozen snack, the Dole Whip…. as I sit next to you eating my citrus swirl. The Disney Company entered into a partnership with the Dole Company around 1976. So despite what some think, the Dole Whip was not at the opening of Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Today the Dole Whip and the Tiki birds go hand and hand to the point that a rumor of Dole removing sponsorship of the attraction caused phones to light up at both Disney and Dole headquarters.

Today we eat about 1.4 million Dole Whips just in the Disney Parks each year and dare I say that Dole Whips have also found their way outside the parks as well. Today you can find Dole Whips at State Fairs, Zoo’s, other Theme Parks, and even at our favorite spot, the Dole Plantation in Hawaii(pictured above). And, did you know, if you have your own soft serve machine at home you can order the Dole Whip Mix from United Enterprises.

  • For those of you who love to enjoy your Dole Whip with Disney here is where you can find them.
    • Disneyland – Tiki Juice Bar, can be taken into the Enchanted Tiki Room
    • Walt Disney World
    • Disneyland Resort Paris – Not Here
    •  Tokyo Disney Resort – Mango Soft Serve, but No Dole Whip here.
    • Hong Kong Disneyland Resort – Nope not here either
    • Aulani – head over to the Lava Shack for your Dole Whip
    • Disney Cruise – Mickey Ice Cream Bars a plenty – but not a Dole Whip in sight.

Where is your favorite place to enjoy a Dole Whip?
