Kid’s fun areas

Those of you familiar with the Flower and Garden festival know that each year a few new playground areas pop up around the world showcase.   This year they have replaced a few of those areas with seating to enjoy your selections from the new food booths.   You will still find a playground on the path from Imagination to the World Showcase in the Oz area.   You will also find tables scattered throughout World Showcase with kids crafts (all free with park admission)   Check out our photo tour.

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia: First Audio Animatronic that can Remove a Body Part

Toy Story Mr Potato HeadDID YOU KNOW TODAY’S TIGGERIFIC TUESDAY TRIVIA ABOUT TOY STORY MIDWAY MANIA?

Yes, I know you have spent a long time in this line so you have been able to study every little bit of it.   Welcome to Andy’s room and Toy Story Midway Mania.    As you make your way past all of Andy’s toys and into Andy’s room for the ride, you can’t help but notice Mr. Potato Head.   No, you don’t need your 3-D glasses yet, he is the Toy Story Midway ManiaFirst Animatronic to be able to remove and replace one of its body parts.   He also has a very realistic mouth and eyes that can look directly at the person he is talking to.  Mr. Potato Head is definitely a ton of fun and makes standing in line a little more bearable.

Age to Enter the Parks Alone

Starting March 23, 2013 you must be 14 years of age or older to enter the Disneyland and Disney World theme parks on your own.   This rule will also affect all water parks at Disney World, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.  Because children do not carry identification listing their age, cast members will monitor and question anyone alone who looks 14 or younger.  The child’s parent or guardian would be contacted and required to come to the park to accompany them in.

This “new” age restriction brings consistency across the parks as there was not an age limit set at Disneyland and Disney World seemed to very from park to park.

A few more details can be found here on NBC News Travel Site.

It’s Official – Downtown Disney to become Disney Springs

Today Tom Staggs and the Disney Parks Blog announced a major overhaul of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs.   Disney Springs was inspired by great small towns from central Florida at the turn of the century.   The overall goal is for people to feel as though they are at home in the community.   The layout will feature 4 distinct neighborhoods centered around the current lake.   Look for many changes in both the retail offered (yes a bigger World of Disney) and amazing dining opportunities (150+ locations).

Disney Springs will not be completed until 2016 and will remain open with new areas being rolled out in phases.   Please visit the Disney Parks Blog for more pictures and information.

Meet Daisy….Off the theme, but wanted to introduce everyone to the new member of the DisneyDayByDay Family.   Daisy was found in the North GA mountains very malnourished, she has made a great recovery but still has some bald patches.   She goes for another check up with the vets on Wednesday and we hope to get a clean bill of health.   She has been a handful the last few days, but we are very excited to have her.
