Our Favorite Food This Week: Frushi
Location: Hanami – Epcot Japan Booth during Flower and Garden Festival
Price: $4.50
Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends. This week we have been showing off our #DisneySide Epcot Flower and Garden Festival style. This week we look at the Frushi – what is it? Fruit Sushi 🙂 Even if you don’t like sushi, you are sure to love this dish if you like fruit.

Frushi is Fresh Strawberries, pineapple, and cantaloupe rolled with coconut rice, atop a raspberry sauce sprinkled with toasted coconut and whipped cream. Oh my gosh it’s oh so good you might want to make it at home. The Disney Food Blog shared a recipe to do just that. So when you are at the Flower and Garden festival be sure to try some of the foods and let us know what your favorite is.

Our Favorite Food This Week: The Master’s Cupcake (aka The “Grey Stuff” Cupcake)
Location: Be Our Guest Restaurant, Magic Kingdom, Fantasyland
Price: $3.19
Try the grey stuff – It’s delicious – Don’t believe me? Ask the dishes
They can sing, they can dance – After all, Miss, this is France
Welcome to this week’s Favorite Food Friday where we share our favorite foods with our friends. Now that I have you singing, this week’s favorite food comes from our latest favorite lunch spot at the Magic Kingdom, the Be Our Guest Restaurant (did you just sing that too?). After your amazing meal, be sure you save room for a dessert. The cupcakes are delicious. After reviewing the menu and seeing a Master’s Cupcake on the menu, I figured since I am the ma….. uh well I mean since I enjoy cupcakes and I heard the grey stuff was delicious how could I go wrong.

Mmm – doesn’t that look amazing. The Master’s Cupcake is Chocolate Sponge cake topped with Lumiere’s special “Grey Stuff”. Yes the cake was moist, but the “Grey Stuff” was amazing. So if you find yourself at Be Our Guest, be sure to give it a try. Will you try the “Grey Stuff” on your next trip to Be Our Guest?

Our Favorite Food This Week: Beignets
Location: Sassagoula Floatworks Food Factory – Port Orleans French Quarter
Price: 3 for $2.99 or 6 for $4.29
This week’s favorite food comes from the Sassagoula Floatworks Food Factory at the Port Orleans French Quarter Resort. As many of you know Port Orleans French Quarter is one of our favorite moderate resorts at Walt Disney World and these powered balls of heaven may be one of the reasons. If you are staying here be sure to head to the food court and order these, they are cooked fresh while you wait and covered in powered sugar, and oh so so good.

If you have never tried beignets, they are similar to a powder sugar doughnut. Wikipedia says that it is a french term for a pastry made from deep fried choux paste. I have no idea what choux paste is nor does it sound good, but anything deep fried has to be good and these make no exception. Have you tried the beignets? What is your favorite Disney Breakfast food?

Our Favorite Food This Week: Orange Chicken
Location: Lotus Blosson Cafe – Epcot
Price: $8.49
This week’s favorite food comes from the Lotus Blossom Cafe in China at Epcot. We were wondering Epcot one day after having a snack in Norway and happened upon the Lotus Blossom. Being that we were not starving we were able to grab an order of egg rolls and the orange chicken to split. Though we liked the eggs rolls best out of the meal, the orange chicken had good flavor and the rice was cooked well and not overly sticky.
If you enjoy Chinese food, the Lotus Blossom will definitely fit the bill. For the $8.49 price you have a choice of Orange Chicken, Beef Noodle Soup Bowl, Shrimp Fried Rice, Vegetarian Stir Fry, or Sesame Chicken Salad.

Our Favorite Food This Week: Skewers from Disneyland
Location: Bengal Barbecue – Disneyland Adventureland
Price: $3.79 – $4.29
This week’s favorite food comes from Bengal Barbecue in Adventureland at Disneyland. There are a few skewers to choose from including
- Banyan Beef Skewer – Hot and Spicy $4.29
- Bengal Beef Skewer – Sweet Zulu Sauce $4.29
- Chieftain Chicken Skewer – Polynesian Sauce $3.89
- Outback Vegetable Skewer – Fresh Veggies $3.79
- Safari Skewer – Bacon wrapped asparagus $3.89
We tried the Bengal Beef and Chieftain Chicken Skewers, pictured below. Overall they were OK, nothing to special about them, they were a bit dry for my taste. The sauce was the best part of them so make sure you dip the skewer into it for each bite.

Try out a skewer next time you are at Disneyland, which one would you like to try or which is your favorite if you have had them? Let us know in the comments below…..
